Heath Care

The real problem is not the health care it is the cost of health care. The USA is the world leader in development and delivering medical advances yet many Americans cannot afford health insurance. We suffer from the fear of the cost of serious illness and the impact on our families even if we have some coverage since many plans are ineffective when needed the most.

Self serving Pharmaceuticals companies are certainly responsible for wonder drugs and treatments but work hand in hand with HMO’s and the FDA to prevent less expensive treatments that would provide affordable, less intrusive treatments because it would hurt their profits. They regularly attack natural treatments, ambulatory surgery centers, and many other proven ways to provide more affordable care.

There is a disconnect between patients and the actual cost of health care and coverage costs similar to income taxes, we pay them but all too often we are not involved in the actual process. Since most covered never actually write the checks or handle the funds used for coverage or the care itself they fail exercise the same awareness, judgment and control they have in every other financial decision they make. I can assure you taxes and the cost of heath care would be less if everybody had an understanding of how much and where the funds were going. We would begin to question and negotiate and not tolerate abuses.

We need to change the way things are now and turning it over to the Federal Government is not only the wrong thing to do it will assure the solution never arrives. If you combine the powers of Pharmaceuticals, Insurance Companies, Self Serving Bureaucrats with the agencies that regulate the industries (FDA) your health care and its costs will be too far our individual control to ever be reined in. Free medical health care for everyone is and never will be free. More importantly you will lose what little freedom is left regarding where and how you can receive treatment.

There are many answers to question “how can we reduce costs” that serve the patient but not the care givers, government health monopolies, absurd profits and the self serving bureaucrats who always have to have something in it for them.

Some of the ways requiring no particular order:

  • Free market competition for insurance coverage - break down the boundaries and regulations for coverage to be open to all with a percentage of high risks to be shared equally. Your representatives bend to the insurance lobbyists to keep the regulated profits status quo.
  • Tax breaks for all individuals and families who assume the responsibility and payment of there own coverage. I promise that collectively we will do a better job shopping and spending over the government every time. Your representatives bend to the insurance lobbyists to keep the regulated profits status quo and to hold on to their control of your money to fill their own pockets.
  • Tax breaks for those who live life styles that reduce the need for health care coverage
  • Tort reform will reduce the cost of health care at many levels. If the argument is accountability then make it criminal law instead of civil law. Not likely to happen too soon since we elect lawyers to protect us from lawyers. Why not nationalize medical malpractice insurance first? Why not make individuals behavior patterns applicable to level of liability?
  • More affordable healthcare education at all levels. Supply and demand says if we increase the number of medical professionals competition will drive down costs and make it more difficult for the greedy.
  • For the poor and the needy require a percentage at every level and segment be devoted to their care and coverage.
    • All insures set aside a percentage of premiums to fund premiums for those who need assistance.
    • Pharmaceuticals, hospitals, clinics and all paid medical services set aside a tiny percentage of gross receipts to avoid manipulation of the representation of those funds for those who need assistance.
    • Tax breaks and liability coverage for individuals who provide care and or coverage for those who need assistance.

Give health care and health care costs back to those who are in the best position to manage it; the people. Unlike everyone else in Washington I believe you are the smartest and best equipped to do so. I trust and believe in you because you are the reason this country is great.
